Price a client Bill of Quantities
Last updated: 3 October 2026
When a client sends their own Bill of Quantities, they expect the bid back in that document, with your rates filled in. A tender keeps their file, lets you price the lines, and exports the same PDF.
Start from the client's document
Go to Tenders and press New tender. Fill the tender details (number, title, dates, SST) and pick the customer. Then open More → Client BQ.
Choose the pricing section
The import needs to know which pricing column these lines belong to.
Upload the client's PDF
BuildTrack keeps that file and reads the lines into the bill. Quantities come from the client. Rates start empty.
Price the bill
Type the unit price on each line. Amount is calculated. With two or more pricing sections, quantity is shared and each section has its own rate.
Export
Export writes your rates into the original PDF. Send that file. Do not rebuild the BQ in a new layout.
After the bid
Send the tender when the price is ready. When the client accepts, convert it to a project. Retention, payment terms and programme dates are set on the project Contract and programme, not on the tender. To collect sub prices before you submit, use Subcontractor bids on the same tender.
