Run a project
Last updated: 3 October 2026
A project is a contract job: a summary of what needs attention, a programme of dates, named places on site, and the contract you claim against. A simple job stays lighter and does not carry that contract.
Open the project, not a simple job
On Jobs, New job offers Projects and Simple when the company does contract work. A project is where the contract lives. A simple job is a smaller piece of field work without claims and retention. Field-service companies only create simple jobs.
Summary, programme and locations
Summary
The project front page. Use it to see what needs attention before you open a claim, a defect or the programme.
Programme → Schedule
Set task dates here. Edits save on their own: the bar shows Saving…, then All changes saved. Link these tasks to Bill of Quantities items when you raise a Progress Claim.
Site → Locations
The places on this site. When someone raises a defect or a task, they pick one of these instead of typing it.
History
The record of what changed on the project, including issued progress reports.
Booking a person who is already on another visit raises Schedule conflict. You can still press Schedule anyway.
Commercial work lives on Contract
Progress Claims, the Bill of Quantities and variation orders are on Contract, not on Summary. See Issue Progress Claims, Raise a Variation Order and Issue a progress report. Defects are under Site. See Log and close defects. Day-to-day updates from the phone are in Track jobs from site.
